Hannah Cleal-Jones is a commissioned and optioned screenwriter specialising in character-driven, commercially focused storytelling across film and television.

 

With over 30 years of writing experience across multiple formats, she brings a strong emphasis on emotional truth, structure, and audience engagement. Her work spans a range of genres, from grounded romance and festive features to psychological thrillers, always anchored by compelling characters, emotional stakes, and clear narrative engines.

 

She began writing screenplays after being gifted a book on how to write a made-for-TV Christmas movie. What started as a holiday experiment quickly became something more, and within two weeks she had completed her first script. She hasn’t stopped since.

 

Her writing has been recognised in several international competitions, including being selected as a Finalist in the Nicely Entertainment Holiday Romance Mentorship (Roadmap Writers). She is also a two-time Semifinalist in the Emerging Screenwriters Family & Holiday Screenplay Competition (2025), a Quarterfinalist in the Golden Script Competition (2024), and a Quarterfinalist in the Emerging Screenwriters Drama Screenplay Competition (2024). She was also awarded a scholarship to the Rocaberti Writers Retreat, where she continues to develop her work alongside industry professionals.

 

Hannah is currently in the process of formalising representation with Madeleine Cotter at WGM Atlantic and is actively developing a diverse slate of feature projects for the global market.
